Embroidery File Troubleshooting & Guide
Direct, practical answers to common embroidery machine and conversion issues.
Why did thread colors change after converting to DST?
The Tajima DST format does not store embedded RGB thread color values; it only records color-change stop commands. When loaded onto an embroidery machine, the machine applies its assigned needle thread spool colors.
Why won't my embroidery machine read the USB file?
Ensure your USB drive is formatted as FAT32 (not exFAT or NTFS), the filename is shorter than 8 characters with no special characters, and the design fits within your machine's physical hoop boundaries.
How do trims and jump stitches transfer between formats?
Embroidery OS translates jump and trim commands between coordinate-based jump encoding (DST) and explicit command blocks (PES/EXP), preventing unwanted travel threads across your design.
Can I view stitch density before embroidering?
Yes. Open your file in the Embroidery OS Viewer to inspect total stitches, layer stop breakdown, and run real-time needle playback.
